Chiko

June 11th a crazy little creature came about. I let my dog, Maddie out as usual. When I went to let her back in, I noticed a white fuzz ball in front of her. Now, it was getting dark, but I could still sort of see the critter. At first glance I thought it was a weasel. I quickly let Maddie inside, she is a rodent hunter after all, and the then weasel came running to try and get inside. Quickly realizing it was a ferret my roommate and I decided to catch it. If you had been a bystander for this, you probably would have laughed your butt off. Chelsea remembered she had a chinchilla cage in the garage and we devised a plan to put it in front of the door in hopes he would go into it. After a few repetitions, we realized there's no way that plan would work. Finally we just got the cat carrier and played a game of tag with the ferret in the yard. After going back and forth, he went right into the carrier with no fight.

Long story short, I have adopted the ferret, who is a boy. Named him Chiko. Gave him some extensive flea baths to rid him of the vermin's. And most of all, I have given him a loving home.

He is very sweet, and a cuddle bug big time. I believe he had a previously broken leg that didn't heal right, although it doesn't seem to bother him.

No one had posters or ads up reporting a lost ferret. Chances are, people decided they just didn't want him anymore and dropped him off by my house in the middle of nowhere. It was meant to be.

Him and Maddie have become best friends, and I have fallen in love with the little stinker.
